As Ontario’s housing crisis worsens, more and more Ontarians are finding it harder to find or afford a home of any kind. Every day, tens of thousands of Ontarians face housing insecurity and the possibility of homelessness.

It’s why our provincial government must take action to build, protect, and support deeply affordable community housing.

But we need your help to send that message.

Please take a few minutes to send a letter to your local candidates and party leaders asking them to help Ontarians in need of deeply affordable housing.

  • Ontario’s housing costs have skyrocketed over the last decade – average rent has increased nearly 50%. (Source)
  • Over 735,000 Ontario households cannot access a home that they can afford, that does not need major repairs and/or is not overcrowded – an increase of nearly 20% over the last ten years. (Source)
  • Over the past ten years, 12,000 households needing support lost funding from the provincial government – further exacerbating the issue and increasing demand for accessible and deeply affordable housing. (Source)
  • All forms of community housing can provide safe, stable, and deeply affordable housing – and already do for half a million Ontarians, including single-parent families, seniors, Indigenous people and newcomers to Canada.
  • Over 200,000 Ontario households need immediate access to housing, with some waiting up to 12 years for a place to live. (Source)
  • Ontario’s provincial government must take action to build, protect, and support deeply affordable community housing.
